When it comes to sports games, Playstation3 definitely has all of the other leading consoles beat! I have always been a fan of Playstation, but another system caught my eye for awhile. I recently had my faith restored in my favorite gaming system ever.

I was over at my new girlfriend’s apartment last night and I discovered a little something about her that makes me love her that much more. I discovered she was a hardcore gamer, much like myself. I was so jealous when I walked into her game room, http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/cheats/gn-sport-games only to find the most awesome chill room/game room my eyes ever did see! While I was there we played the new Gran Turismo game, and a demo for the PGA Golf: Masters game coming out soon as well.

When I compared the graphics and game play to the sports games on my other console, my jaw dropped! I decided that I was going to the store to trade in my other system so I could get back in on everthing the Playstation 3 has to offer. Sports games are my favorite genre of video game. I need my gaming experience to be top-notch in order to have a good time and PS3 has got what it takes!

2010 has come and gone, leaving a major impact on the gaming world. Companies could no longer rest on gameplay or graphics alone. Instead, they could only compete with top notch acting, re-playability, high def graphics, and a unique storyline. Here is a glimpse at how the games of 2011 are going to build on the promises that the 2010 gaming industry made.Wolfenstein 3D was released nearly 20 years ago and it shocked the world with its cutting-edge graphics of the 80′s. Since then, first person shooters have held a special place in the gamer’s heart. Rage,http://ps3.ign.com/articles/114/1140658p3.html is the newest release from the company id that combines excellent action inside a dark and gritty world.LittleBigPlanet was one of the few games that never quite found a single genre that it could fit into. Media Molecule decided to further confuse the market, in the best possible way, with their 2011 release of LittleBigPlanet2,http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en/2/. This game defies all convention as a mixture of arcade, sports, and adventure gaming in one of the most beautifully mesmerizing worlds ever developed. These aren’t the only two games being released for the PS 3 in 2011. They will receive some stiff competition that will keep fans of all genres with their hands firmly glued to their controllers.

The Playstation 3 “Greatest Hits” program (or “red label” titles) includes titles that have been on the market for 10 months and sold 500,000 copies. These editions sell at the excellent price of 29.99. At that price, it’s hard to go wrong, but with almost 100 titles currently available on the label, ThePlaystation decided to list our favorite Greatest Hitsso consider this the Greatest Hits Greatest Hits collection, if you will.Prince of Persia (2008): After getting progressively darker during its time on the Playstation 2, Xbox, and Gamecube, the series lightened up a little for its first edition on next-gen consoles. The gameplay is both old-fashioned and new, the magical companion of Elika is bewitching, and the storyline concerning the battle between two powerful gods is appropriately epic.Call of Duty: World at War (2008): Like most Call of Duty games, you’ll need to have your PS3 connected online via Ethernet or wireless internet service to get the full experience with this game. Set during WWII, the game includes co-op for up to four players online for the first time in the series. Of course, you can always just do competitive deathmatch or capture-the-flag as well.Brutal Legend (2009): Sometimes a game comes out that just overwhelms you with its vision. Such is Brutal Legend, which stars Jack Black (in both voice and appearance) as a heavy metal roadie transported to a world straight off a Metallica cover. There are plenty of references to classic albums and songs, as well as cameos from metal masters.Fallout 3 (2008): The first major installment in the Fallout franchise since 1998′s Fallout 2, F3 blew reviewers’ expectations out of the water. Combining action-strategy, roleplaying, first-person shooter, and survival horror, the game is an innovative blend of styles that offers plenty of replay value. At 29.99, that’s definitely a steal.Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009): For those waiting eagerly for Ghostbuster 3, this is the next-best thing. Each of the main characters appears, and the plot is full of the classic humor and adventure that made the films so popular. The players takes the role of a new recruit with their very own Proton Pack, and gets the opportunity to defeat classic villains like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (2007): Here’s another game that feels like a movieso it’s no surprise that there’s one in development, with actor Mark Wahlberg attached to play main character Nathan Drake, who claims to be a descendant of Sir Francis Drake. As Nathan, the player will head deep into the Amazon to find the treasure of El Dorado. The sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, is also on the label.

The upcoming platforming game Explodemon! could best be described as the video-game equivalent of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Like the director’s films, Explodemon! is a homage to its classic forerunners, many of which come from outside the U.S. These include platformer adventures like Mega Man and Super Metroid, the fighting game Street Fighter II, and more recent games like Halo and Half-Life 2. The developers, Curve Studios, say that their game will pay tribute to aspects of all of these, including the bad translation when applicable. The game is scheduled to be released this winter. In preparation, Curve has released a one-minute trailer, showing off the game’s 2.5-D graphics, physics-based puzzle-solving, fast-moving gameplayand of course explosions. Lots of explosions. The trailer ends with the Explodemon! logo, which includes Japanese kanji, just like the games of yesteryear.Developer Curve Studios actually hails from London, with staff members that have worked on big-name titles like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Eyetoy. They’ve released a number of games with different collaborators, and they claim to have done it all without “crunch” or excessive overtimean impressive accomplishment in the dog-eat-dog world of video games. If you’re interested in learning more about Explodemon! and Curve Studiosor if you want a jobcheck them out at their website, http://curve-studios.com.

If you’ve ever read classic kung-fu comics like Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu or Iron Fist (or its excellent modern reimagining), then you know just how good beating up on ninjas can look on the page. But until now, you’ve never known how good it can feel. That’s all set to change with the upcoming release of Kung-Fu Live on the Playstation Network. More information is expected to be released at Comic-Con this week, but here’s what we know already.Kung-Fu Live will be the latest title to incorporate Playstation Eye or the upcoming Playstation Move camera technology. These devices literally allow you to become the game character, and beat down on a variety of thugs and nogoodniks. In addition to using your most reliable weapon (your body), you can also bring in objects like the bat seen in the game trailer. It also appears that you will be able to tap into the more mystical side of the martial arts and unleash special elemental attacks, like a burst of lightning from your hands.Several features have been announced on the official Playstation Blog, including five-player multiplayer and monumental arena and boss battles. Since this is a Playstation Network title, this looks like it could be quite the bargain for the amount of entertainment it can provide to you and your brawler buddies. Dust off those old books and get reacquainted with the arts of kung-fu so you’ll be ready when Sony and developer Virtual Air Guitar Co. release more details at Comic-Con. The convention starts on July 22 at the San Diego Convention Center and runs through the 25th.

Sony announced that this will be the first time since the PS3′s release four years ago in which the company sees profits on the system. In an interview with IGN, President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida made sure to note that they still aren’t seeing huge numbers, but that they “aren’t bleeding like they used to.”The Playstation 3 underwent a large transformation (and price cut) last year, when the PS3 Slim was released for 299. This model features a smaller shape and a 120 GB hard drive for 100 less than the original console. Sony’s recent news is not likely to mean another price drop, but instead an increase in production as Sony attempts to move more units. However, you can still get more for your money by taking advantage of Sony’s Playstation Plus service. Coming right on the heels of a download to allow 3D functionality, the new service will let gamers personalize their online profiles and access exclusive features and content. This could finally allow Sony to compete with the Xbox Live Gold service in terms of exclusive content like downloadable games and discounts. What’s next for Sony? After getting their new batch of retail stock onto the market, Sony is focusing on integrating features like PlaystationMove, which uses motion sensors to put players in the game, as well as 3DTV functionality. New console bundles could also be in the works. Considering Sony’s priorities, these might include new sets featuring the Eye Camera and compatible games, or games designed to show off their 3D graphics. This might be one of the best opportunities in a while to get on the Playstation bandwagon, and it looks like it’s finally paying off for Sony as well.

With the release of The Sly Cooper Collection, a PS3-remastered collection of all three classic platformers, coming in November, fans have been waiting to find out if Sony would continue the practice for other fan-favorite games. It now seems that others may indeed be (if I may borrow an image from Sony’s esteemed competitor) in the pipeline. No official titles have been announced to follow up The Sly Cooper Collection, which will be updated to take advantage of HDTVs and will also feature Playstation Move mini-games and Trophies. However, Sony President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has said that “Sony is looking at different methods” for porting PS2 titles to the station. It would make sense for single games to be available via download, rather than in hard copy, since it would be inefficient to release a single PS2 game on a Blu-Ray disc. Sony also released a God of War collection last year which combined the first two games in the series, updating the graphics and speed to 60 fps and providing Trophy support. However, some complained of the lack of inventiveness in the Trophies list as well as poorly remastered graphics.Nonetheless, Sony’s attention to these classic games leaves many hopeful that similar fan-favorite series (Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy) will appear on the system in some way soon. In addition, a rumor back in May suggested that the games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus would be appearing in a Blu-Ray collection around the first quarter of 2011. On Monday, June 28, this gained momentum with the listing of a Team ICO Collection on Amazon France, with a release date of June 2011. This trend will likely survive or fail based on customer support, so be sure to let Sony know you support the classics.

A couple of weeks ago, a mysterious 8-minute long video started making the rounds on the web, featuring Michael Jai White as hard-bitten detective Jax, Jeri Ryan as the sultry Sonya Blade, and Ian Anthony Dale as the eerie Scorpion. If those characters don’t sound familiar, then you’re not a fan of the long-running Mortal Kombat fighting series, and considering its lackluster presentation in recent years, it’s hard to blame you. However, the short showcased a darkness and energy never before seen in the series, tempered by a real-world sensibility. While fans wondered what this short entailed, NetherRealm Studios announced the latest in the game series. It was later confirmed that the video was an unofficial teaser for the rumored third film. This synergistic shot could be just what the series needs to win over a new generation of fans. The new game is titled simply Mortal Kombat, taking a back-to-basics approach. In that vein, the storyline revisits the events of the first three games, picking up with thunder god Raiden right before his execution by the evil Shao Kahn. Raiden sends a message back in time, and in doing so, he (and the player) revisit the events of MK I-III, encompassing black magic, humanoid reptiles, and cybernetic ninjas. In terms of gameplay, the player will have the option to choose from around 26 characters, with room for more as downloadable content. The action will be 2D, but fast enough to keep up with the best of Mortal Kombat‘s fresher competitors. Of course, secret moves and combos will abound, including a new Super Meter and a special “X-Ray Mode” attack.Remakes have been bringing in money in Hollywood for years, and Mortal Kombat definitely still has enough fans to make this enterprise profitable on its own. But from the looks of things, Mortal Kombat should be able to hold its own, and attract even more fans.

Marvel comics have seen an amazing resurgence in recent years, especially with the success of films like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Popular game titles like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 also brought in new fans. Ultimate Alliance 2 was an adaptation of two popular storylines from the Marvel Comics universe, Secret War and Civil War. These tales left no character untouched, and many were thrilled at the opportunity to play as favorites like Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, along with surprises like vampire-hunter Blade and the wisecracking assassin, Deadpool. Now Marvel has a number of new ways for fans to create their own stories. First up is exclusive downloadable content for Little Big Planet, the acclaimed PS3 title which allows players to construct their own doll-like characters (referred to as Sackboys and Sackgirls) and run them through puzzle-based levels, making sure not to get crushed, flamed, or thrown into the abyss along the way. Marvel’s content will come with costumes of 20 of the most popular characters, including Captain America, Daredevil, Hulk, Iron Man, as well as the urban vigilante, the Punisher. There will also be a four-level kit in which players can take on the X-men’s nemesis Magneto.Marvel’s other big focus is Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the fifth in the long-running franchise to pit Marvel superheroes against Capcom video game characters. This will be the first game in the series to feature 3D character models, although the gameplay is still in the tried-and-true two dimensions. Marvel has stated their commitment to including references to their decades of comics in the game, in the form of dialogue and special events in certain match-ups. Of course, the circle would not be complete without a comic book adaptation of the game, which Marvel and Capcom are currently discussing.
